DFSI (DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE, SERVICES AND INNOVATION) FUEL CHECK

ORIGINAL SITUATION

As part of the trading laws it was compulsory for the service stations to disclose their fuel prices. The service stations display the price changes on their roadside signboard, however there is no other facility for the consumers to know the prices until they have travelled to the service station. As part of the NSW Government's commitment to Open Data, the objective was to make this raw data available digitally for public consumption.

DELIVERED SOLUTION

The DBA's were involved in the design and development of new databases for the data being sourced from service stations. The DBA's created the technical design for the database layer of the solution, including build of the data structures, migration of data, integration with other data sources and support testing and production deployment.

BENEFITS DELIVERED

  • New government website which compares petrol prices to provide the public with useful fuel price information in their chosen area.

  • Making petrol price information publicly available online.
